Sixth Annual Radiant Systems Sprint for Cancer Raises more than $130,000 for Georgia Cancer Foundation
More than 1,600 runners participated to raise money and awareness for Georgians affected by cancer
ATLANTA (April 23, 2008) – The Radiant Charity Corporation, the nonprofit organization supported by Radiant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: RADS), announced today that the sixth annual Sprint for Cancer raised $134,000 for the Georgia Cancer Foundation. More than 1,600 registered runners participated in the 5K and 10K road race on April 20 at Atlantic Station.
“This race began six years ago with only fifty employees running around our parking lot, and now we’ve tripled attendance in the previous two years – it’s nothing less than astounding,” said Chris Lybeer, president of Radiant’s retail division and chair of the Georgia Cancer Foundation. “I am so proud of everyone at Radiant and the Georgia Cancer Foundation who volunteer their time, money and energy to support, honor and memorialize loved ones that have been affected by cancer.”
Last year’s road race attracted approximately 1,000 runners and raised $101,280. Approximately 150 Radiant employees and numerous other volunteers and sponsors worked to host the largest Radiant Systems Sprint for Cancer road race to date. Platinum sponsors included the Georgia Aquarium, DLA Piper and Novare Group.
"We are privileged and honored to be chosen as the beneficiary of such a meaningful event--one which ultimately assists Georgians in their fight against cancer," said Rudy Morgan, executive director of Georgia Cancer Foundation. "The Radiant Sprint for Cancer is a success because of Radiant’s employees -- people who are committed to their community and to each other."
